School Description
DigiPen Institute of Technology has been a pioneer in computer simulation and video game development education since 1988. Located in Redmond, Washington, DigiPen is dedicated to providing an intensive educational experience that is focused on preparing students for lifelong careers in the interactive entertainment field and beyond. DigiPen offers a master''s degree in Computer Science, and bachelor degrees in Real-Time Interactive Simulation (video game sciences), Computer Engineering, and Production Animation.
- Computer Science
- Bachelor of Science in Real-Time Interactive Simulation
- Master of Science in Computer Science
This degree track offers advanced training in mathematics and physics as a foundation for the various topics presented in general computer science and computer graphics. Students participate in several major team-based projects which embody, in a practical way, the theoretical knowledge gained from the courses.
- Production Art
- Associate of Applied Arts in 3D Computer Animation
- Bachelor of Fine Arts in Production Animation
Producing marketable 2D and 3D digital art for today's feature animations and video games requires comprehensive skills in areas such as drawing, composition, use of color, graphic design and animation. Both of DigiPen's art degree programs are structured to combine intensive foundational art education with practical production experience that allow graduates to excel in the field of 2D and 3D commercial animation.
- Computer Engineering
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering
DigiPen's computer engineering track educates engineers to understand both sides of the hardware-software interface. With a specialized focus on game related applications, this multidisciplinary program integrates the fields of electrical engineering and computer science, preparing graduates to design and develop embedded, digital, and computer systems for other 21st century industries.
- Continuing Education
DigiPen offers seats in specific undergraduate courses for non-matriculating college students and industry professionals. These courses complement any traditional Computer Science degree.
- ProjectFun Workshops
DigiPen teaches workshops in game programming, 3D animation production and robotics technology that are excellent introductions to the respective fields. The workshop program does not require any previous experience and the hands-on nature allows participants to understand the production process. Workshops are typically offered during the summer at both DigiPen's main campus and at a variety of off-site locations across the U.S. and abroad.
- ProjectFun Online
For those unable to attend the workshops, DigiPen now hosts non-credit online training classes for participants to learn about the process of creating video games. Utilizing synchronous teaching technology, the classes are taught live by qualified DigiPen instructors.
